Today is our 3rd section of our R.E.A.P study, an we will cover chapters 11-15. We continue to hear and read about the miracles and ministry of God. Chapter 13 specifically deals with parables detailing the future of the Kingdom and almost has a similar tone to the Beatitudes in the last study. Let's get started....
11. R: In chapter 11 we hear word that John the Baptist has ben imprisoned due to his connection with Jesus. This relates to the price we as followers have to pay (just as Jesus paid). Jesus scorns the generations around him for their doubt and judgement; stating " But wisdom is shown to be right by its results." (18) Jesus stresses that there will be judgment upon unbelievers and those who have not repented form their sin, however he prays a prayer stating "Come to me all who are weary and carry a heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." (28) E: John the Baptist was prophesied yet people still didn't recognize his coming. How can we prepare and be attentive to what God has planned and stated long ago? What is the importance of coming to God as a child/ childlike mindset? A: We need to be aware that Christ can and will watch over us in our trials and burdens. We also need to hear to his word, repent of our sins, and acknowledge his Kingdom and power. P: Pray to have a mindset of a child that trust and hears all Christ has to say without any wordy distractions.

We started this R.E.A.P bible study with Matthew chapters 1-4. Today we are going to discuss Chapters 5-10. Chapters 5-7 are called the Beatitudes that were preached at the Sermon on the Mount so I am going to group those together, and then discuss 8-10. Let's get started....
5.-7. R: Chapter 5 is what is famously know as the Sermon on the Mount consisting of a list of "laws" and teachings called the Beatitudes. We see that God will bless those who are: poor and need him, mourn, humble, hunger for justice, merciful, pure hearted, peaceful, and those who are persecuted for Christ's sake. *salt and the light / law / anger / adultery / divorce / vows / revenge / love for enemies / giving to the needy / prayer and fasting / money and possessions / do not judge others / effective prayer / golden rule / narrow gate / the tree and it's fruit / true disciples / building on a solid foundation / * E: The beatitudes reflect a lot of what God had designed in the Ten Commandments; laws and teachings to guide and direct us to Heaven. A way to examine them is to take each section and formulate a question reflecting each one ( How can we pray better? How do we reflect Christ's love in all we do? How can we live and walk down the narrow path and on a solid foundation?) A: Making a list of key verses and questions and keeping them visual can help us be accountable to the teachings of God's word. How can we live, trust, and follow God in the present and into the future? How can we teach, preach, and live with authority in Christ's word in our lives? P: Pray to be reminded of God's law. To be held accountable, and to have knowledge to understand the meaning and truths behind his teachings. In the midst of working and preparing to go back to college I haven't really set down and wrote about my journey through the bible. About a month or so ago I began the New Testament, starting off of course with Matthew. For Matthew I want to do a similar study to the Five in Five for Hebrews, but apply a technique called REAP. R: Read, A:Apply, E:Examine,P:Pray. I had found a bookmark from church and thought what a great way to explore the book of Matthew and the New Testament
{2 Timothy 3:16-17 - All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.} LET'S GET STATRTED....... CHECK IT OUT!! A NEW POST ON MY NEW COLLEGE BLOG PAGE.
